The cheapest pass is not the answer
The Hida-Takayama 2-Day Free Bus Pass costs 1,000 yen; the Hida Area Free Pass costs 12,370 yen. They are not alternatives. The first covers only city buses once you are in Takayama; the second includes the limited express round trip from Nagoya. Sorting passes of different coverage by price leads people to the wrong one, so this site groups them by what they cover and never mixes the groups.
